Travel Registered Nurse (Ortho) - Burlington, North Carolina
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Ortho)
- Location: Burlington, North Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Schedule: Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday), no call
- Float: Required as needed
- Unit: 29-bed unit caring for adult through geriatric orthopedic and medical-surgical patients, including telemetry monitoring and an on-unit physical therapy gym.
Patient Population
- High volume: Total joint replacements, fracture repairs, kyphoplasties
- Moderate volume: Other surgical procedures, inpatient and 24-hour observation medical patients
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (highest stated requirement)
- Previous travel experience required
Required Qualifications
- License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Charge RN experience required
- Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs
- Compliance with facility-specific orientation and testing requirements
Work Environment & Policies
- Zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Mandatory completion of compliance by deadline prior to start
- Floating to other units as needed
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Social Security Card
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher)
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of employment history for last 5 years
- Two supervisory references (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Fit mask test (N95 respirator) completed within current calendar year
- Facility-specific documents including health history form, floating policy, contractor equipment acknowledgement, dress code, and job description acknowledgment
Testing & Competency Requirements
- Pass/fail Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (minimum 82% score)
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% score)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- EPIC test (electronic health record system) with passing score
- Other certifications/testing as applicable per unit or specialty
This position is ideal for experienced orthopedic RNs with prior travel experience who are flexible with scheduling and committed to compliance and professional standards.
