Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Unit: 24-bed MedSurg/Telemetry overflow unit
• Patient Ratio: 1:6-7 with CNA support (1:12)
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts
• Float Requirement: Yes (to sister units)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Telemetry monitored by tech on another unit; nurse must be able to treat dysrhythmias
• Target Ratios: 1:6-7
• Orientation: 36 hours unit orientation + hospital orientation week one (attendance required)
• Scrubs: Navy Blue
• No RTO (Return to Office) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
• Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required, but no first-time travelers accepted (unit WILL NOT ACCEPT 1st time travelers)
• Required Skills: Telemetry, ability to treat dysrhythmias
• Required Certifications:

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • Must pass EKG/Dysrhythmia competency testing prior to start
• License: Valid RN license for North Carolina

Patient Population & Unit Details

• MedSurg/Telemetry overflow with diverse patient diagnoses
• Team-oriented environment focused on quality patient care and physiologic stability
• Use of Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication tools

Compliance & Screening Requirements

• Background checks including criminal, education verification, and state-specific registry checks within 90 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB)
• Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training (not required for non-clinical)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray per protocol
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or facility-specific declination)
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Annual compliance and facility-specific training modules required
• Medication safety training and competency exams as applicable

Orientation & Training

• Hospital orientation week one with daily classes required
• Unit orientation: 36 hours
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam must be passed within 72 hours of start (minimum 82% score, up to 3 attempts allowed with remediation)

Additional Notes

• Candidates must provide a passport-style photo for badge creation prior to start
• Candidates must complete Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation (approx. 8 hours) if applicable
• Adherence to dress code (navy blue scrubs) required
• Must comply with all hospital policies and confidentiality agreements
• Float to sister units as needed
• Weekend work every other weekend required

This position is ideal for experienced MedSurg/Telemetry RNs with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia treatment, and who have prior travel or contract experience.
