Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (Travel/Contract)

Location: Los Angeles, California
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Shift Details

  • Schedule: 4x10 hour shifts (07:00 - 17:30)
  • Call Required: 10-14 shifts per month with rotating weekends
  • Weekend Schedule: Rotating weekends
  • Paper charting required
  • No Return to Office (RTO) within first two weeks due to orientation; all RTO must be submitted upfront

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience in Interventional Radiology (IR) (can be combined Cath/EP/IR)
  • Preferred 2 years experience in IR
  • Prior travel experience not explicitly required (1st timers OK)

Skills & Procedures Required

  • Interventional Radiology and Special Procedures
  • PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
  • Procedures including but not limited to:
    • CVC (Perma cath, ports, HD cath)
    • Nephrostomy, Abcessograms, Cholecystogram tube, Fistulograms
    • Peripheral vascular cases, Abdominal vascular, GI bleed, Embolizations
    • Adrenal Angiography, Angioplasty, Aortography, Chemoembolization
    • Chest Tube Placement, ERCP, Gastrostomy Tube Placement
    • IVC filter placement and removal, Liver Biopsy, Mesenteric Angiogram
    • Paracentesis, Pelvic angiography, Percutaneous Hepatic Angiography
    • Pulmonary arteriography, Renal Angiography, Selective visceral angiography
    • Stent placement, Thoracentesis, Catheter/drain exchange, Cholecystostomy
    • Internal/external biliary drainage, Renal Artery Stent Placement
    • Ureteral Stent Placement, Uterine Arterial Embolization, TIPS
    • Central Venous Access/Port Placement, Dialysis Graft Creation/Revision
    • Dialysis Graft interventions (fistulograms/declots), Endovascular Interventions
    • Upper and Lower Extremity Angiography, Thrombolysis/Thrombectomy
    • Central Venous Access (non-Tunneled/PICC lines and Tunneled Port)
    • Central Venous Lines care and maintenance
    • Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, Vascular Closure Systems (Perclose, StarClose)
    • Isolation Precautions and use of Rapid Response team

Equipment

  • Preferred X-ray: Philips C-arm and Siemens bi-plane
  • Team: 2-3 techs; on call 1 tech and 2 RNs

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • ARRT-R (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Radiography)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Fluoro Permit
  • State Licensed (California CRT)

Orientation & Training Requirements

  • No RTO during first two weeks (orientation period)
  • Pass/fail testing for Dysrhythmia/EKG may be required depending on unit
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI with physical, in-person portion required for RNs in ER and ICU (can pend if online version on file)
  • Fire Card specific to Los Angeles required (2-week grace period after start if not obtained prior)
  • NIH Stroke Certification required for RNs working in ER, ICU/CCU, CCL, DOU, IR, M/S, Stepdown, and TELE (preferred for LVNs)
  • Harassment Prevention Training (1 hour CA training for non-supervisory positions)

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, confirming fitness for duty and communicable disease free
  • Negative 7-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)
  • Fit Mask test within 1 year of start and annually thereafter (with religious exemption process available)
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
    • TB test (Negative TSPOT, Qgold, or 2 PPDs within 1 year)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or 2 lifetime vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (3 dose series, positive titer, or declination)
  • Seasonal Flu and COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31) with mask mandate for unvaccinated in patient care areas
  • Annual TB Questionnaire

Documentation & Verification

  • Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Emergency Contact Form prior to start
  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days
  • Education verification (highest level) required
  • Employment application/resume with at least 1 year relevant experience and 7 years work history if applicable
  • 2 professional references from manager or above (clinical candidates) validated within 2 years
  • Skills checklist updated annually (not required for non-licensed workers)
  • Facility-specific documents including photo for badge (white background, shoulders up)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must submit all requested Return to Office (RTO) dates upfront, including doctor's appointments
  • Orientation includes completion of Oracle modules prior to start
  • Facility requires specific pass/fail competency exams depending on unit and specialty
