Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Stepdown Unit
Location: Lansing, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Stepdown Unit
- Start Date: ASAP
- Patient Ratios: 1:4-6
- Shift Requirements:
- Weekend shifts required: 3 weekends per 4-week schedule
- No on-call required
- Floating required within scope to all adult acute care units
- Shift Hours:
- 3 shifts of 12 hours = 36 hours/week
- 4 shifts of 12 hours = 48 hours/week
- 8 or 10-hour shifts = 40 hours/week
- Block Scheduling: No block scheduling; Return to Office (RTO) blocked on specific dates
Experience & Certifications
- Required Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have completed prior travel contracts)
- Required Clinical Experience:
- Telemetry experience
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- EPIC charting experience
- Required Certifications:
- State nursing license (must be active by start date)
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) by American Heart Association
- Preferred Certifications/Skills:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Ventilator management
- Conscious sedation

- Current Michigan nursing license verification (within 30 days of start)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (must note latex sensitivity)
- Drug screening (10-panel with THC, within 30 days of start)
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
- Facility-specific modules and acknowledgments to be completed prior to or at orientation
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
Additional Notes
- Locals accepted; no local radius restrictions
- Pending licenses are not accepted; license must be in hand before start
- Floating to all adult acute care units within scope of practice is required
- No block scheduling but some RTO restrictions apply
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with telemetry and dysrhythmia management skills who have prior travel experience and are comfortable working in a fast-paced, acute care, stepdown environment.
