Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Alton, Illinois
Facility Type: Skilled Nursing and Rehab Units in a Long-Term Care (LTC) Facility

Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: ASAP
• Shift: Even/Odd weekend rotation (every other weekend)
• Patient Ratios: Direct patient care for up to 20 residents; average daily census of 72

Experience & Requirements

• Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
• Licensure: Must have license in hand to submit; proof of license required before starting
• Certifications Required:

  • IV Certification (must have before starting)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required upon center request
• On-Call: Not required
• Floating: Not applicable
• Locals Accepted: Yes
• Pending License: Must provide proof of license

Special Skills & Preferences

• Experience in rehab with strong Med/Surg and acute care background is helpful but not required
• Dementia training/experience highly recommended
• Excellent customer service skills essential
• Works closely with CNA/HCA staff
• Experience with special equipment such as lifting equipment

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Includes SS Trace, County searches (last 7 years), Nationwide, Sex Offender
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
  • Immunizations or declinations for Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • 9 Panel Drug Screen within last 12 months (instant tests acceptable; cannot start with pending drug screen)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
  • COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted with testing requirements for Illinois candidates)
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Aya requirement)
  • Unit-specific competency exam required
• References: Two professional references within 2 years of start
• Skills Checklist: Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start
• Photo for Badge: Required prior to start

Additional Notes

• Any call-outs must be given with more than 24 hours' notice
• Rehab experience with Med/Surg and acute care is beneficial
• Dementia experience highly recommended
• RTO (Return to Office) restrictions apply only at time of submission; cannot be approved after offer
• Cannot take every holiday off

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience, comfortable working in a skilled nursing and rehab setting, and willing to work every other weekend. Prior travel experience is not required, making it suitable for first-time travel nurses.
