Job Details

• Shift: 8-hour variable shifts (Days/Mids/Evening)
• Specialty: Pediatric Operating Room (Pediatric OR)
• Required Licenses & Certifications:

  • California RN License
  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Required Experience: Minimum 3 years pediatric nursing experience or equivalent
• Preferred Experience:

  • Scrub experience
  • Cardiac circulating experience
  • Ambulatory OR experience
  • CNOR certification
• Prior travel experience: Not required (1st time travelers are acceptable)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid government-issued photo ID matching professional license
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year criminal history (all counties lived/worked, plus 5 Bay Area counties)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, Education Verification
• Education verification (diploma or transcript acceptable)
• Primary source verification of state license (must be run within 30 days of start)
• NURSYS verification for RN license
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
• Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC), within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB tests (2 required: one within 1 year, one within 3 months of start) or chest X-ray if positive
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines required)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines required; history of disease not accepted)
  • Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination (required Nov-April)
  • COVID-19 vaccination requirements including booster doses or approved exemptions
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved masks required; annual update)
• Pass/Fail Telemetry and Medication competency exams required on first day
• Unit-specific competency exams and core training modules (must be completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually)
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment
• References: Two supervisory references required, preferably from most recent employment
• Employment application with 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained
• Skills checklist: Unit-specific, updated annually

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete facility-specific documents including COVID-19 preparedness, parking/uniform info, HIPAA agreements, and cybersecurity training
• Background checks and verifications must be current (mostly within 30 days of start)
• Candidates with positive TB or allergies must provide additional documentation as specified
• Candidates may be required to complete annual TB questionnaires and other health screenings
• Orientation includes pass/fail exams; failure after 3 attempts results in cancellation
• Onsite fit testing available as a last resort for mask fit test
• Religious and medical exemptions for COVID-19 vaccine are available but require advance approval

This position is ideal for experienced pediatric OR nurses with at least 3 years of pediatric nursing experience who are flexible with variable shifts and able to meet comprehensive credentialing and compliance requirements. Prior travel experience is not mandatory.
