Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details

Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
Minimum 18 months recent and permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
AHA BLS & ACLS certifications required
Traveler must work at least every other holiday
ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation
PBDS Assessment waived

Required Experience

Specialty Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Surg Telemetry experience (highest requirement)
Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications Required

BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross (RQI acceptable)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross (RQI acceptable)
Pass/Fail ECG & Medication Testing during orientation
State nursing license verification (Ohio or compact state)
Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, TNCC, CHEMO, NIH Stroke Certification may be preferred or required depending on unit but not specified as mandatory for this role

Compliance & Documentation

Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search
FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates after 4/11/2025)
Fit mask (N95) fit testing required within 12 months and updated annually
Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Orientation & Training

Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for pass/fail testing during orientation
Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing required

Additional Requirements

Must submit 2 professional references from within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
Skills checklist required annually

Notes

Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
Candidates must be prepared to complete fingerprinting again at the facility
Modules and onboarding process may take multiple days and must be completed before clearance to start
Candidates must work at least every other holiday during the contract

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with current Ohio or compact state licensure, who are comfortable working night shifts and meeting comprehensive compliance and certification requirements.
