Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Telemetry Unit
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of experience in telemetry or related specialty. First-time travelers are accepted.
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Unit & Work Environment
- Telemetry unit
- Diagnoses include CHF, MI/Chest pain (pre- and post-cath), Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), Hypo-/Hypertension, Pleural effusion, Sepsis, PE/DVT/vascular issues
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5
- 16 rooms
- Unit systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Schedule & Requirements
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Call: None
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (see below)
- Major holidays include: Spring Break (April 4-12), Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (refer to unit description for requirement)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years specialty experience (highest requirement)
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 12 weeks = 12 hours)
Required Documentation & Health Screenings
- Valid State License (Georgia)
- Background check (within 30 days of start)
- Education verification (degree related to specialty)
- Physical exam (within 12 months)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (within 12 months) and TB questionnaire (updated annually)
- Immunizations: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or declination (required for flu season)
- References: 2 clinical references required
- Skills checklist and work history verification (updated annually or within 30 days post start if pending)
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Color blind testing (with alternative assessment if needed)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation)
- General competency exam
Additional Notes
- Floating within facility as needed
- Locals accepted at same rate
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy
