Job Opportunity: Pain Management Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Rancho Mirage, California

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, variable 5/8 shifts starting as early as 0545 until the last case finishes (usually by 1700), flexible with surgeon's schedule
• Patient population: Adults (18 years and older) undergoing interventional pain management procedures
• Unit details:

  • Procedural unit with 10-bed pre/post-op area and 2 procedure rooms
  • Approximately 45 procedures per day, very busy procedural environment
  • Ratio: 1 nurse to 3 patients
  • Float required based on skill level, possibly between two locations (Rancho Mirage & Palm Springs)
  • No weekends, no call, no holidays required
• Charting system: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of pain management nursing experience, with experience in pain management within the last year
• Experience working with adult patients
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
• Harassment Prevention Training Certificate

Additional Requirements & Compliance

• Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including SSN trace, all counties/states lived/worked, national sex offender, and international searches if applicable)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA, confirming good physical and mental health
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start
• Fit testing for specific N95 masks required prior to start (onsite testing not available)
• Immunization and health document requirements:

  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (if positive TB test) with facility-specific TB surveillance form
  • Evidence of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• Pass/fail onsite EKG rhythm interpretation exam on first day of orientation (2 attempts allowed; remediation required if first attempt fails)
• Completion of required NetLearning modules prior to start (4-10 hours depending on position)
• Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments must be signed prior to start, including:

Competency & Evaluation Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Unit-specific competency exams
• Age-specific competency exam (upon hire and annually)
• Acknowledgment of Pass/Fail Testing (EKG assessment) required
• Annual performance and internal evaluations required for candidates with more than 1 year with the agency
• Minimum of 2 positive professional references required

• This position requires prior travel experience; first-time travelers will not be considered.
• The role involves a fast-paced procedural environment focused on adult interventional pain management.
• No weekend, holiday, or on-call shifts required.
