Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Covington, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Provide perioperative nursing care for surgical patients during day shift operations in a multi-specialty operating room at a Level II Trauma Center.
• Responsibilities include circulating duties, patient assessment, coordination with surgical and anesthesia teams, maintaining a safe and sterile environment, and adherence to AORN standards and hospital policies.
• Work collaboratively within a fast-paced surgical environment.

Experience & Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Required Years of Experience: 2 years (multi-specialty OR setting experience required)
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Epic experience preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Work Schedule & Call Requirements

• Weekend requirement: Yes
• Weekend call as needed
• Call shifts: 3-4 call shifts per 4-week schedule
• Holidays: As needed
• Note: Minimize time off requests during Mardi Gras (2/13 - 2/22)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
• E-Verify and other federal checks required within 30 days of start
• State nursing license verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
• Competency exams (Medication/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG, Core Parts I-III) required annually with minimum passing scores
• Health documents including:

  • Physical exam (within 12 months)
  • Immunizations: Tdap, MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination)
  • TB testing (Qgold/Tspot or 2-step skin test within 3 months of start) and annual TB questionnaire
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination (required Oct 1 – March 31)
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
