Registered Nurse - PCU Float

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Overview

  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Float required to all Medical-Surgical (MS), MS/Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) units within the hospital
  • Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
    • PCU: 1:4-5
    • MS, MS Telemetry: 1:5-6
  • Unit Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue
  • Return to Orientation (RTO) maximum: 7 days
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (approximately 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
  • Floating: Required
  • Call: None
  • Holiday Work: If one major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if two, expected to work both; if three, expected to work two.
  • Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
  • Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing experience
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Information

  • Floating across multiple units is mandatory
  • Full compliance with all documentation and credentialing required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Orientation hours vary based on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • No call requirements

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience who is comfortable floating across PCU and Medical-Surgical units, proficient with Epic, and holds current BLS and ACLS certifications.
