Job Opportunity: Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Job Description

• Position: On Call Hospice Registered Nurse
• Schedule: On call every weekend, Friday 5 PM to Monday 8 AM
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours (paid at regular rate, no overtime)
• Duties: Scheduled visits, admissions, and emergent visits
• Average Patients per Day: 5-7
• Types of Cases: Geriatric, end-of-life care
• Territory: Up to a 60-mile radius from the hub/office
• Dress Code: Scrubs (any color), no jeans
• Technology Provided: iPad provided; cell phone not allowed
• Mileage: Reimbursed at IRS standard rate

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 1 year of hospice experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Homecare Homebase (HCHB) electronic medical records system

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Comprehensive background checks including SSN trace, county searches, FACIS, nationwide sex offender, motor vehicle records, education and work history verification
• State-specific background checks as applicable
• Fingerprinting may be required depending on placement state
• Verification of highest degree related to profession
• Annual acknowledgment of safety and orientation manuals
• Drug screening (9 panel) within 12 months of start
• Immunization and health document requirements including:

  • Physical exam within last 12 months
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • Vaccinations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination form
  • COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination

Additional Documentation

• Proof of current auto insurance if job responsibilities include driving
• Completion of facility-specific policies and attestations prior to start
• Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps
• Professional references (2 for travel/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care) within 2 years of start

Notes

• Local candidates are accepted and paid at travel rates
• On-call role but on-call is not required outside scheduled weekends
• Mileage reimbursement provided for travel within the assigned territory
