Job Opportunity: Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse (LVN / LPN) - Travel/Contract

Job Description

• Work in an inpatient hospital and rehabilitation setting (experience required).
• Teamwork, positive attitude, and patient-centered care are essential.
• Start Date: ASAP
• Shift: As assigned
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
• Must be willing to work Fridays and every other weekend (no block scheduling).
• Patient stay average: about 14 days.
• Facility environment values employee skills, dignity, respect, education, and training opportunities.
• Attire: Any solid color scrubs, close-toed shoes required.
• Charting system: Cerner.
• Free parking available.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of LVN / LPN experience (higher experience requirement takes precedence).
• Current CPR certification required.
• ACLS certification preferred; required if in Charge Nurse role.
• Must provide proof of active New Mexico LVN / LPN license at time of application. Pending licenses are not accepted without proof.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required. First-time travelers accepted.

Additional Requirements

• Background checks including 7-year work/school history, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions must be completed and updated annually.
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within one year of start date required.
• Physical exam within one year of start date required.
• Immunizations and health documentation required:

  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within one year.
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Flu vaccination required during flu season (declinations may require mask-wearing or may not be accepted depending on facility policy).
  • COVID-19 vaccination preferred.
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable.
• Fingerprinting and demographic forms required for New Mexico state compliance.

Work Environment & Expectations

• This is a hospital setting, not a nursing home or long-term acute care facility.
• Motivated, proactive, and caring individuals are sought.
• Call-outs require more than 24 hours' notice.
• No floating between units expected.
• Locals are accepted.
