Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: April 27, 2026
Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Schedule Requirements:
- Weekends: Every other weekend required
- Holidays: Required as scheduled
- Floating: Required within specialty and to other units within scope
- On-call: Not required

Required Licenses and Certifications
- Maryland State Nursing License
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Emergency Department (ED) experience: Minimum 1 year within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- CPI - Crisis Prevention Institute certification
- NIHSS and NIH Stroke Certification
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
- Tech Cert Verification - National
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Job Responsibilities and Expectations
- Work primarily in the Emergency Department
- Floating to other units and sister facilities as needed within scope of practice
- Weekend and holiday coverage as scheduled
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- I-9 or Attestation
- Government Issued Photo ID
- E-Verify or Attestation
- Background Check (7-year criminal history within 30 days of start, updated annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education Verification for highest level of education
- Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
- Verification of previous 5 years of employment history (attestation accepted if necessary)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start
- Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (updated annually)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination proof required
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination accepted (series not accepted)
- Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Medical/Religious Exemption required during flu season (Oct 6 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required for this location, but documentation collected for tracking
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
- Color Blind Testing
- Competency Exam relevant to profession/specialty (score 80% or higher)
- Age Specific Competency Exam (score 80% or higher)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for RN specialties)
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge required (passport-style with solid white/beige background)
- Confidentiality Agreement and Dress Code must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Various facility-specific documents and attestations must be completed prior to or at orientation
- Epic training test-out option available based on prior Epic experience
This position requires a dedicated Registered Nurse with appropriate Maryland licensure and certifications, able to work night shifts including weekends and holidays, and willing to float within the specialty as needed. Compliance with all health, safety, and credentialing requirements is mandatory.
