Job Opportunity: Stepdown Cardiac Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: RN Stepdown/Cardiac Telemetry
  • Schedule/Shift: 8-week blocked rotating days and nights
  • Weekend Requirement: Minimum 4 weekend shifts plus 4 Monday or Friday shifts based on unit needs
  • Floating: PCU/Stepdown/IMCU units
  • On-Call: Yes
  • Blocked Scheduling: Not open to blocked scheduling
  • First-time travelers: Accepted
  • Local candidates: Accepted (within 75 miles)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Orientation & Training

  • Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training provided during orientation (valid for 2 years)
  • Unit-specific competency exam required

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background check within 90 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, and education verification
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen (including THC) within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (declinations not accepted)
    • Polio vaccine or attestation
  • References: Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
  • Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must set up a guest account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
  • Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments may have some documentation accepted on file
  • Scrub color: Royal Blue
