Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

Location: Salisbury, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15)
• Target Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:8
• Hours Offered: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: Yes, may float to other units such as medical or geriatric behavioral health units
• Call Requirement: None
• Orientation: 24 hours unit orientation plus hospital orientation classes during the first week
• Scheduling: Per needs
• Scrubs: Solid print navy blue or white

Patient Population

• Diagnoses include schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, and major depression

Required Skills / Certifications / Experience

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)
• Required Certifications: BCLS and MOAB (MOAB training provided onsite)

Unit Systems

• Pyxis medication system
• EPIC electronic health record
• SBAR communication tool

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) certification; MOAB training provided onsite
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Requirements

• Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Color blindness testing within 1 year of start
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 72 hours of start (pass rate 82% or higher)
• Completion of facility-specific education modules including annual compliance, medication safety, and behavioral health orientation
• Background checks and state-specific registry searches required within 90 days prior to start
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years (not required for non-clinical)
• Employment application must be submitted

Important Notes

• No Return to Origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation
• Flu vaccine or approved exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 10/31)
• Badge photo required prior to start (passport style, solid white background, business attire)
• Candidates must complete all required documentation and training prior to start to avoid delays
