Job Opportunity: NICU Registered Nurse

Location: Apple Valley, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Work in a Level III NICU with approximately 190 births per month.
• Weekend shifts are every other weekend but may exceed to meet unit needs.
• No floating between units required.
• No on-call required.
• Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered.
• Local radius for assignment is 50 miles.
• Guaranteed hours with facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• Minimum 1 year of recent NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) experience.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Facility & Work Environment

• Acute Care Hospital setting.
• Total staffed beds: 212.
• Charting system: Epic.
• Free parking available.
• Scrub color for RNs: Navy Blue.

Important Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
  • COVID vaccination documentation preferred (declinations accepted).
• Drug screening (9 panel) within 12 months.
• Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required for travel nurses, updated annually.
• Background checks including national and state-specific searches as applicable.
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
• Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting.

Scheduling & Work Conditions

• Weekends: Every other weekend, may exceed to meet unit needs.
• No block scheduling accommodations.
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of application and approved based on unit needs.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must comply with all required training modules and competencies as assigned prior to start.
• Epic training modules completion may be required.
• Float policy acknowledgment may be required (may be asked to float to nearby facilities if needed).

This position is ideal for NICU RNs with solid neonatal experience looking for a travel contract in California with a reputable acute care hospital environment.
