Job Overview

  • Hours per week: 36 or 48

Unit Details

  • Mixed acuity medical surgical/telemetry and stepdown unit
  • Patient population includes neurological and neurosurgical cases
  • Travelers are expected to float frequently and may be assigned to other units as needed
  • RNs should be prepared to care for up to six medical-surgical patients

Required Qualifications

  • 2 years of prior experience in a large, urban hospital
  • First-time travelers are not accepted, unless the traveler has 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
  • Active RN license
  • EPIC charting experience
  • Ability to work with drips on all floors

Schedule Expectations

  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period
  • Holiday requirement: 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Up to 2 weeks of requested time off may be permitted

  • ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, and NIH Stroke certification as applicable to the unit
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement

  • Fit test
  • Tdap/Tetanus vaccination within the last 10 years
  • TB screening or chest x-ray documentation
  • MMR immunity documentation
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination if non-reactive
  • Varicella immunity documentation
  • Drug screen
  • Flu vaccination documentation or declination
  • COVID vaccination preferred, with exemption or declination accepted
  • 2 work references from the past 2 years
  • Annual skills checklist

Additional Notes

  • Locals are not accepted; candidate must live more than 100 miles from the facility
  • Pending license is accepted, but if not in hand at submission, the traveler will be booked 6 weeks out
  • Scrubs are mandatory and must be Steele gray with the Nebraska Medicine logo
  • Parking is available for a monthly permit or daily rate
  • Nicotine-free facility
