OR Tech / Surgical Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Day shift primarily, with possible night shift rotation
• Shift length: 12 hours (Day: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; Night: 7:30 PM - 7:30 AM)
• 36 hours per week (3 shifts/week)
• B-weekly orientation provided
• Weeknight call required: 1-2 nights per week on average
• Weekend call required: approximately every 4-5 weekends
• No block scheduling available
• Operating rooms: 30 rooms, handling 60-80 cases per day
• Off-shifting possible 1-3 shifts per 4-week period, but often not available
• Locals not accepted; candidate must live more than 100 miles from facility

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment
• Experience in:

  • Vascular procedures and Vascular Technologist experience
  • Endoscopic procedures and Endoscopy Technician experience
  • Colorectal procedures
  • Gastro robotic procedures
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Valid Driver's License
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Certifications & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background check within 30 days of start, updated annually, including:

  • Multi-county and statewide checks for the past 7 years
  • SSN trace, sex offender, federal and nationwide checks
  • Specific review for theft, drug offenses, assault, violent crimes, and other serious offenses
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and monthly thereafter
• Education verification required
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
• State license verification and primary source verification required prior to start
• Annual skills checklist required
• Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually (specific panel required)
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+)
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap/Tetanus vaccine within last 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray with TB questionnaire if history positive, updated annually
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer (boosters required for low/equivocal titers)
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters required for low/equivocal titers)
• Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
• COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemption or declination accepted
• Baseline eye exam (Snellen) required within 30 days of start (specific to OR workers)
• References: 2 work references from past 2 years required (1 if not a current traveler)

Additional Information

• Scrubs provided by the facility
• Must provide interview availability for the next 3-4 days when subbing

This position is ideal for experienced Surgical Techs with trauma and robotic surgery experience who have prior travel contract experience and are willing to commit to a 13-week travel assignment with variable shifts and call requirements.
