Location: Madera, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 11.5 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)

Job Description

• Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with Level III NICU experience.
• Position is for a returning Respiratory Therapist.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in California.
• Minimum of 1 year of Registered Respiratory Therapist experience, with experience within the last year.
• Level III NICU experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

Compliance and Background Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts required; candidate may start with this pending.
• Primary source verification of state license required.
• Two professional references required (Charge RN or above preferred).

Health and Safety Requirements

• Fit test for respirator mask required within 6 months of start (acceptable masks: 3M 1860 or Ameritech Progear, size must be indicated).
• Respirator clearance form or equivalent respiratory safety clearance required within 1 year of start; updated annually.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 6 months of start.
• Tdap vaccine required within 10 years of start.
• Tuberculosis screening: Negative PPD, Qgold, or T-spot within 30 days or 1 year of start; facility may administer a second PPD onsite.
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (October 1 – April 1).
• COVID-19 vaccination preferred but not required.

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Candidate must review and sign orientation guide and confidentiality agreement.
• Candidate must complete orientation guide post-test prior to start.
• Candidate must complete non-employee personal information sheet.
• Candidate must review policies on dress and grooming standards, harassment-free workplace, IT acceptable use, and parking information.
• Medical and religious influenza exemption request forms available for 2024-2025 season if applicable.

Additional Notes

• No annual background check required by facility, but agency requires annual background check for direct candidates.
• Facility allows starting with pending education verification if necessary.
• Fit test cost onsite is $35 if not completed prior to start.
• Candidates with facial hair will be CAPR trained.
• If contract extends beyond one year, fit test and TB test must be updated every two years per facility policy.
