Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Wheaton, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 6 weeks

Schedule

• Monday through Thursday shifts
• Typical hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Wednesday start time: 7:30 AM (earlier start)
• Hours may slightly fluctuate based on pain procedure schedules
• No weekend or on-call requirements

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
• Experience in an outpatient setting
• Ambulatory care experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

Certifications & Verifications

• Current Illinois RN license with primary source verification within 30 days of start
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if applicable to specialty
• Education verification of highest degree completed
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, federal and national checks, and education verification
• Drug screening (10-panel) within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and ability to perform job duties
• Fit mask test (3M Aura 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually
• Required immunizations and/or titers:

  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (TD not accepted)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive IgG titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if needed
  • Varicella: positive IgG titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B vaccine series or positive titer (declinations accepted with signed form)
  • COVID-19 vaccination series or declination form
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
• Tuberculosis screening: 2 negative PPDs or equivalent testing within required timeframes, chest x-ray if indicated
• OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance if fit test failed

Compliance & Documentation

• Must provide current and valid Driver’s License or government photo ID (preferred)
• Proof of name change if legal name differs from compliance documents
• Employment history covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Skills checklist completed annually
• Completion of facility-specific training modules and policy acknowledgements prior to start
• Completion of sexual harassment training annually (wet-signed certificate required)
• Confidentiality and information security agreements signed prior to start
• Facility-specific consent forms including cannabis acknowledgement and scanning technology consent
• Accommodation request forms for vaccine or fit test exemptions must be submitted within 24-48 hours of contract signing if applicable

State-Specific Requirements

• Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry fingerprinting required prior to start
• Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois only; out-of-state fingerprints are not accepted
• Registry verification required before every contract start or extension

Additional Notes

• No prior travel experience explicitly required
• No weekend or on-call shifts
• Shift pattern is consistent with day shifts, 4 days per week, 8 hours per day (32 hours/week)
