Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Burns, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Emergency Room Nurse with ability to float to Medical-Surgical units as needed
- Shift: Nights, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
- Facility Type: Critical access hospital, Level 4 trauma center
- Total Staffed Beds: 25
- Scrub Color: Any colors or patterns preferred
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or equivalent vendor certification
- Must be willing and able to float between ER and MedSurg units as needed
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date
- Negative TB test (PPD or Quantiferon Gold) or chest X-ray per policy
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (titer, vaccine, or history of chickenpox)
- 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start
- Seasonal flu vaccine or documented declination required
- COVID-19 vaccination card required per Oregon state rules; religious or medical exemptions require facility-specific exemption forms and approval
Background and Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Standard background checks including:
- 7-year search of SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (must be current and completed within 14 days of start)
- Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, HIPAA access guidelines, compliance and privacy attestations, and active directory information must be completed prior to start
- COVID-19 religious or medical exemption forms if applicable
- Flu vaccine declination or exemption forms if applicable
Additional Information
- Locals accepted
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: RTO approval required at time of submission; holiday time off cannot be guaranteed
- Parking: No cost
This position offers a critical role in a small, trauma-level 4 hospital with a supportive environment for travel nurses, including first-timers. The nurse must be flexible to float between ER and MedSurg units and meet all licensing, certification, and health requirements prior to start.
