Ultrasound Technologist (Temp) – General (Days)

Location: Windsor, Vermont
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (8 hours per day)


Job Description

  • Perform general ultrasound exams including abdomens, aorta screenings, thyroids, breasts, venous studies (carotids, upper and lower venous for DVT), and assist providers with procedures such as prostates, thyroids, breasts, and lymph nodes.
  • No OB exams beyond the first trimester; no musculoskeletal (MSK) or pediatric/baby ultrasounds.
  • Provide general ultrasound, vascular, and musculoskeletal ultrasound services Monday through Friday with varying hours.
  • Must function independently and proficiently.
  • Ability to move and lift patients, equipment, and supplies regularly.
  • Must have working knowledge of clinical emergency equipment such as oxygen tanks and suction apparatus.
  • Patient population ranges from pediatric to geriatric.
  • Dress code: Personal scrubs of any color.
  • Facility is a Critical Access Hospital with trauma level designation.
  • Orientation: 8 hours non-billable.
  • Strict attendance policy: After 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated. Call-offs must be communicated at least 1.5 hours in advance.
  • Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved at the time of application; no more than 5 days allowed. Requests after offer or during interview will not be approved.
  • Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility.
  • Traveler must have their own vehicle.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of current ultrasound experience.
  • Active American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification.
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ultrasound Technologist skills checklist current to within 1 year.
  • One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 6 months previous travel experience (highly preferred).
  • Experience with Cerner electronic medical record system.

Additional Information

  • Patient documentation is done in Cerner EMR.
  • Facility enforces a strict "3 strike" attendance rule.
  • The hospital has 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, along with acute care, transitional care, hospice, and physical therapy services.
  • Location offers access to outdoor recreation and is within a 3-hour drive to major cities like Boston, Montreal, and New York.
