Radiology CT Technologist - Contract Clinician
Location: Lincoln, Nebraska
Facility: Bryan East Campus, Bryan Health
Job Summary
The CT Technologist performs computed tomography (CT) procedures under physician supervision, using CT technology to assist in diagnosing medical conditions across all patient age groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all types of CT studies, including diagnostic and interventional procedures, while practicing radiation safety.
- Use sterile techniques as required.
- Position patients properly and select technical factors to optimally demonstrate anatomy.
- Perform venipuncture.
- Operate CT equipment and support systems (HIS, RIS, PACS, teleradiography).
- Review patient history and document studies accurately using department computer systems.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and care for patients of all ages.
- Coordinate exams within and across departments to ensure timely and complete care.
- Communicate effectively with medical staff, patients, families, and hospital personnel.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain equipment; report issues as needed.
- Maintain work area supplies.
- Engage in continuing education and departmental meetings.
- Assist with orientation and clinical education for students.
- Administer drugs and biologicals as per Medical Center procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expertise in CT positioning, technical factors, and radiation safety.
- Knowledge of non-invasive and invasive CT procedures.
- Familiarity with Joint Commission, federal, and state radiography regulations.
- Proficiency with CT equipment, PACS, and related computer systems.
- Ability to work effectively under stress and in emergent situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Effective interaction with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Professionalism and courtesy in the workplace.
- Proper body mechanics to ensure safety.
Education and Certification Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program.
- Current certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- CT certification required within 24 months of hire.
- Valid Nebraska state medical radiographer license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Additional Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ CT technologist experience.
- Must live within 50 miles of the facility.
- Contract length: 13 weeks.
