Travel RN Opportunity – Frankfort, Kentucky

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Location: Frankfort, KY
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of hospital experience
  • Active Kentucky nursing license at time of submission (compact license accepted if applicable)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Current NIH certification (must be renewed annually)

Unit Information

  • Unit: Progressive Care / Telemetry
  • Number of Beds: 46
  • Patient Ratios: 4:1 to 5:1
  • Staffing: Clinical Nurse Coordinators (charge nurse), RNs, PCTs, Nurse Externs, Unit Clerks (skill mix varies with census)
  • Documentation System: Meditech Expanse
  • Scheduling: Three 12-hour shifts per week, every other weekend required
  • Floating: May float to post-surgical med/surg unit or PCU for telemetry overflow

Required Skills & Experience

  • Telemetry and EKG interpretation
  • Post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) experience
  • Management and titration of cardiac and anti-arrhythmic IV infusions
  • CPap and BiPap management
  • Port access and therapeutic phlebotomy

Preferred Advanced Skills

  • Chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vac, drains
  • Post-dialysis assessment
  • Central line care
  • Blood transfusions

Procedures Performed on Unit

  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Paracentesis (physician-led)
  • BiPap therapy
  • Therapeutic phlebotomy

Equipment Used

  • GE Apex Pro Telemetry box
  • Hoyer lift, Sara Steady
  • Baxter IV pumps, iMobile
  • Alaris PCA IV pump
  • Welch Allen Vitals machine
  • Glucometer

Dress Code

  • Navy blue or gray scrubs required
  • No royal blue scrubs (reserved for OB/LD unit)
  • Scrub jackets and long sleeve shirts under scrub tops may be any color or pattern
  • No T-shirts, fleece jackets, or sweatshirts
