Job Opportunity: Telemetry Nurse - North Tower 7, Silverdale, WA

Unit Information

• Unit: North Tower 7, Telemetry
• Beds: 18
• Patient Types: Medical Oncology with medical-surgical overflow (CHF, Diabetes Mellitus, UTI, non-critical sepsis, Hypertension, COPD)
• Ratios: Nurse to patient ratio 1:4 or 1:5; Nurse Aide ratio 1:9
• New Department: Opening December 10th

Required Certifications and Experience

• Certifications: BLS (AHA) required; Bio/Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
• Licensing: Washington State or Compact License
• Experience: At least 1 year of clinical experience required

Clinical Responsibilities

• Drip Titration: RNs are required to titrate drips including comfort care medicated gtts (narcotics and benzodiazepines), limited Heparin gtt, and Cardizem gtt (up to 10 mg/hr)
• Common Drips: Comfort care gtts, Heparin, Cardizem
• Telemetry Monitoring: Tele/Monitor techs present (pending approval), RNs read strips
• Respiratory Equipment: Use of CPAP and BiPAP; no High Flow oxygen therapy

Work Schedule and Requirements

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
• FTE: Full-time equivalent based
• Weekend Requirement: Yes, based on unit needs
• Holiday Requirement: Preferred, to be discussed during interview
• Call/Standby: Standby is standard with a 1-hour response time
• Floating: Floating required to like departments as needed

Orientation and Dress Code

• Orientation: 2-3 shifts specific to unit/department
• Dress Code: Professional attire

Contract Length

• Duration: 13 weeks

This position is ideal for nurses with telemetry experience who are comfortable managing drips and working in a new, specialized oncology telemetry unit.
