Job Opportunity: Surgical Tech

Location: Dickinson, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (9-hour shifts, Monday-Thursday)
Hours per Week: 36 hours

Job Details

• Work in Operating Room with 6 OR suites and 1 GI suite
• Patient populations include Adult, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Obstetric cases
• Common procedures:

  • Orthopedic: Total joints, ORIF, Arthroscopy (MAKO robot use required)
  • OB/GYN: Cesarean sections, LAVH, D&C, Diagnostic laparoscopy
  • General Surgery: Laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, exploratory laparotomy
• Equipment used includes C-arm, MAKO robot, Ligasure, Harmonic scalpel
• No clinical involvement required
• No manager or charge nurse on each shift
• Scheduling: Team/self-scheduling with block scheduling options
• Call requirements:

  • 1-2 call shifts per week (end of shift until 7:00 AM next day)
  • 1 weekend call per month (Friday 7:00 AM to Monday 7:00 AM)
  • Holiday on-call required
• Floating is rare and only with prior training in other areas
• Scrub color and dress code provided
• Orientation: 1-2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation

Required Skills & Certifications

• Valid Surgical Technician license in North Dakota
• Minimum of 1 year of Surgical Technician experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS Certification
• Experience with total joints procedures
• Experience with cesarean sections
• Experience using the MAKO robot
• Orthopedic surgical technician experience

Additional Requirements

• Fit testing required; facial hair may disqualify due to inability to pass fit test or use PAPR
• Radius rule: Must live within 50 miles and cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any related healthcare facilities in the system
• Return to office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals
