Overview

• Traveling ICU nurse position in Illinois
• 13-week assignment
• 12-hour shifts
• Start: ASAP

Required Qualifications

• RN license for Illinois
• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• 2+ years of ICU experience
• Must be able to titrate drips

Preferred

• Previous travel experience
• Code Blue Command RN experience
• Phlebotomy experience
• Meditech experience

Unit Details

• ICU with 8 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3
• Primary care nursing model
• ICU RNs run codes
• Tele support is available on the unit
• Hospitalist available 24/7, with in-house coverage during the day
• RT equipment available

Common Patient Population / Procedures

• Sepsis
• General Medical
• General Surgical
• Stroke (TNK)
• DKA
• PNA
• ETOH withdrawal
• Post cath recovery, including radial/femoral sites
• Common titratable medications include Levo, Neo, Propofol, Fentanyl, Precedex, Insulin, and TNK

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts: 0700-1930 or 1900-0730
• Scheduled on shifts most in need
• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation
• No call or standby for agency

Floating

• May float to MedSurg, Tele, and ER with a full patient load

Additional Details

• Charge nurse takes assignment
• Care Support / Unit Secretary / CNA available when acuity warrants
• Department orientation: 2 12-hour shifts
• Any color professional scrubs are allowed
