Overview

• Travel contract for an ER RN in Prescott, Arizona.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Unit: ER/Trauma Center with 20 beds/trauma bays.
• Average volume: about 105 patients per 24 hours.
• Ratios: 1:4, except intake areas which use team care with no set ratio.

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of recent ED experience.
• Current state license.
• ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS, and NIHSS.
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts before signing the contract.
• Must be able to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
• Must be competent in maintaining sterile field.
• Must not have been full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year.
• Must live outside the 50-mile radius rule.

Preferred

• Cerner experience.

Schedule

• Shift: Days, 12 hours.
• Typical shifts may include midshifts and nights.
• Travelers are preferred to work block schedule rotations.
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend minimum.
• Holiday requirement: 2 major holidays per year.
• On-call: two 12-hour on-call shifts per 4 weeks.

Unit Details

• Separate triage area; travelers may be asked to triage if needed.
• Holds are intermixed in the ED; ED RNs manage their own holds as part of the assignment.
• One seclusion room.
• In-house security is available.
• Central monitoring for all beds and halls except intake.
• No monitor techs; RNs read strips.
• Radiology is adjacent to the ED.
• House transporters are available, but not always.
• RT handles ABGs and SVNs; ED staff do EKGs.
• Nurse or ED Techs draw from IV starts; phlebotomy handles other draws and blood cultures.
• Floating is limited to East and West campus ED only.

Additional Notes

• Nurses are expected to complete SIMs Lab and may be evaluated on lifts, restraints, and wound care during orientation.
• Scrub color: Navy Blue.
