Overview

• Role: ER RN
• Location: Kankakee, Illinois
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• 2 years of recent experience in the specialty
• Travel experience required
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• TNCC, though this may be waived with strong ER experience
• EPIC experience required

Job Details

• Department: ER
• 35-bed ER with 2 trauma bays
• Fast Track: 8 beds
• Separate triage area; travelers can do triage using the ESI triage algorithm
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms
• Trauma level: Stroke and STEMI receiving; Level 2 for adults and pediatrics
• Common patient mix includes GSW, violent crime, strokes, STEMI, mental health, pediatric respiratory illness, fractures, and trauma patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• All critical care drips
• ER nurses monitor and read tele strips
• X-ray/CT is next door
• One 12-hour shift of unit orientation

Schedule and Logistics

• Multiple start times
• Schedule is set by the manager
• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• No call or standby requirement
• No floating requirement
• Caribbean Blue scrubs

• Local candidates within 20–50 miles are accepted
• Candidates within 50 miles receive a reduced rate
