Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery

Location: Jackson, Wyoming
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work in a small, friendly Labor & Delivery unit with 6 labor rooms, 3 postpartum rooms, 1 triage room, and 1 OR for C-sections.
• Night shift position with 12-hour shifts, typically 36 hours per week.
• Schedule includes 6 shifts every 2 weeks with a preceptor.
• Staffing: 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio in Labor & Delivery, 1:3 (max) in postpartum.
• Charge nurse coverage 24/7, who also takes a full patient assignment.
• CNA support available (1 per shift).
• Call required: 6 hours of call per pay period, with availability on call.
• Work rotation includes every 3rd weekend and 1 major holiday per season.
• Nurses may float to MedSurg PCU or LTC for task assignments; L&D will call floats back if needed.
• C-sections performed in the L&D OR suite.
• Occasional general overflow patients possible but rare.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience (first-time travelers considered).
• Certifications:

  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
  • BLS (AHA)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) – A1 Intermediate level required; stable preferred.
• Current RN license appropriate for Wyoming.

Additional Information

• Electronic medical record system: Paragon (McKesson).
• Pharmacy support: Pharmacist on call after 7 pm; remote pharmacy and Pyxis system available.
• Night shifts are block schedules; day and night shifts do not rotate within the same week.
• Nurses working Telemetry patients are monitored in the ICU at the central monitor station.
• Dress code: Any color or print accepted.
• Location offers outdoor recreational activities including skiing, snowmobiling, and hiking.
