Respiratory Therapy Travel Job - Phoenix, Arizona
Job Details
- Specialty: Respiratory Therapy
- Location: Phoenix, Arizona
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (minimum contract length)
- Facility Type: Large teaching hospital, Level 1 Trauma Center, 607 beds, nationally recognized tertiary care center with lung, liver, and kidney transplant specialties; associated with a top neuro institute.
- Unit: Adult ICU and NICU (preferred experience)
- Shift:
- 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM or 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- 3 shifts per week
- Every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month
- Holiday rotation required
- Orientation: 2 days on regular floor with skills validation
- Dress Code: Black scrubs
Requirements
- Licenses & Certifications:
- Arizona Respiratory Therapist (RT) license (must have in hand)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC (required)
- BLS Certification (required)
- NRP required if working with NICU patients
- ACLS preferred
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of strong ICU experience in Respiratory Therapy (higher years of experience required)
- Level 1 Trauma and teaching hospital experience required
- Prior travel experience required for ED and Neuro ICU roles
- Clinical Skills:
- Must be able to assist with bronchoscopies
- Proficient with at least one ventilator: Servo I, Jets, Oscillators
- Experience running all vents, BiPAP V60, and CPAP
- Responsible for all ABGs
- Respond to Clinical Response Team calls as lead on duty every shift
- EMR: Cerner experience required
- Other:
- Must pass Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max 2 attempts)
- No facial piercings and only natural hair colors allowed
- Must have own vehicle for travel teams
- Cannot hold two contracts simultaneously with this employer
- Must have been off permanent staff at this system for 12 months to qualify for travel assignment
- No contracts shorter than 13 weeks accepted
- No 48-hour contracts
Work Environment
- High acuity, fast-paced, team-oriented
- Assigned to specific areas daily, no floating to outpatient areas
- Pharmacy coverage 24/7
- Parking assigned with shuttle service or garage for night shift
- Teaching hospital with nursing students present
This position is ideal for experienced respiratory therapists with strong ICU backgrounds, who are comfortable working in a high-acuity Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital and meet the licensing and certification requirements for Arizona. Prior travel experience is required for certain units.
