Shift: Nights (6 PM - 6 AM), three 12-hour shifts per week
Weekend Requirement: Minimum 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Travel Nurse for a regional hospital in Arizona. This position involves working primarily night shifts with guaranteed hours and no cancellations. The unit handles approximately 1-3 births per day with a total of about 830 births per year. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2.

The nurse will provide care for high-risk OB patients, including those with pre-eclampsia, and must be proficient in fetal monitoring and managing fetal distress. Since there is no in-house OB provider, nurses must be skilled in assessment and able to handle OB emergencies until the provider arrives.

Floating to other units such as Emergency Department or Medical-Surgical may be required if experienced.

Unit Details

• 7 Labor & Delivery beds
• 2 Triage beds
• 10 Postpartum beds
• Support staff includes OB scrub tech, Health Unit Secretary, Patient Care Technician, and Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
• 24/7 in-house pharmacy
• Call required one shift per 4-week schedule

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Arizona
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working with high-risk patients
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Additional Information

• May float to Emergency Department or Medical-Surgical units if experienced
• Nurse manager may occasionally see patients
• Call coverage required one shift every 4 weeks
• Supportive team environment with multiple support staff on unit
