Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)

Location: Artesia, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Treats 8 to 10 patients per day
• Patient population includes juvenile (typically 5+) through geriatrics
• Common diagnoses: total joints, back/shoulder/foot pain, some neurological conditions (TBI, stroke, Parkinson's)
• Work setting: Primarily hospital-based outpatient physical therapy with possible flex to inpatient MS-Rehab unit
• Job duties include implementing individualized treatment plans, monitoring and documenting patient progress, guiding patients through functional exercises and equipment use, and maintaining communication with PT and patients

Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (closed 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM for lunch)
• Weekend rotation: 1 weekend every 5 weeks covering inpatient units
• Holiday rotation may be required

Required Qualifications

• PTA license or state certification as applicable
• BLS Certification
• Minimum 1 year of outpatient PTA experience preferred; inpatient-only experience considered
• First-time travel PTAs are welcome

Orientation & Other Information

• Department-specific orientation: 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
• Dress code: Business casual (collared shirt, khaki/black pants) or solid colored scrubs
• Must complete required modules prior to working on the floor (billing allowed for up to 6 hours of module work)

Additional Notes

• Mixed acute inpatient, acute rehab, skilled nursing, and outpatient settings, primarily outpatient
• Patient care includes neurological and orthopedic conditions
