Registered Nurse (RN) Flex Pool - Nights

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Float between various medical and surgical units including:
- Medical Unit (77 beds)
- Surgical Acute Unit (18 beds)
- Cardiovascular Unit (15 beds, rare occasions)
Work 12-hour night shifts (18:45 to 07:15), scheduled 36 hours per week after orientation
No guaranteed hours
Use of equipment such as Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vac, and chest tubes
Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- Medical Unit: 1:8 at night (1:6 days/evenings)
- Surgical Acute Unit: 1:6
- Cardiovascular Unit: 1:4
Professional nursing attire required (clean scrubs)
Orientation provided for each unit
Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Hawaii
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg Adult experience
Minimum 2 years of Step Down experience
At least 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
BLS certification
ACLS certification

Additional Information

Prior travel experience is required for this position
Floating to multiple units as needed
Orientation and training specific to each unit provided

It’s always 4 to 1 except hallways you might only have 3. The staff is so kind and welcoming I have nothing bad to say about them. This was my favorite assignment so far
