Registered Nurse - Flex Pool (Night Shift)

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Float between various medical and surgical units including Medical Unit, Surgical Acute Unit, and occasionally Cardiovascular Unit.
Work 12-hour night shifts (18:45 to 07:15), scheduled 36 hours per week after orientation. No guaranteed hours.
Use equipment such as Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vac, and chest tubes.

Unit Details

Medical Unit: 77 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:8 at night
Surgical Acute Unit: 18 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:6
Cardiovascular Unit: 15 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:4 (rarely floated here)
Ratios may vary due to unexpected leaves.

Required Qualifications

Active Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment (must apply if not currently licensed).
2 to 10 years of nursing experience.
BLS and ACLS certifications required. Preferred certifications include PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, and ENPC.
Medical and religious exemption requests for immunity documentation will not be accepted.

Orientation & Training

Orientation provided for each unit floated to.
Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday.

Additional Information

Professional nursing attire required (clean scrubs).
Flexibility to float across multiple units as needed.
