Job Opportunity: Mammography Coordinator

Job Summary

The Mammography Coordinator is responsible for managing the mammographic program, ensuring high-quality breast imaging and follow-up exams including mammography and osteoporosis screenings. This role involves coordinating patient care throughout the imaging process, overseeing technologist education, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations and accreditation standards related to mammography.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Imaging Director and Radiologist Medical Director to implement and sustain a breast health program.
  • Serve as the educational resource for mammography technologists and physicians.
  • Guide patients through the breast imaging process and follow-up care.
  • Ensure MQSA certification compliance for technologists and the department.
  • Assist in scheduling, performance evaluations, and staff competency assessments.
  • Review pathology and surgical reports to monitor patient progress and exam accuracy.
  • Maintain quality control and quality improvement standards to meet ACR/FDA certification requirements.
  • Operate and maintain mammography and osteoporosis diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform low dose x-ray mammography and osteoporosis exams.
  • Provide radiation protection and ensure patient safety during procedures.
  • Maintain professional development through ongoing education and training.
  • Follow safety protocols including infection control, safe lifting, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, patient charts, and statistical reporting.

Required Qualifications

Education & Certification:

  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved Radiologic Technologist program or equivalent.
  • Registered ARRT in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M).
  • Certification in mammography per FDA MQSA standards.
  • CPR Healthcare Provider (HCP) certification required within 3 months of hire.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mammography.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Competency with mammography equipment and procedures.
  • Critical thinking and independent decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to provide patient care across all age groups.
  • Accountability and adherence to legal and ethical guidelines.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs).
  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Ability to lift, position, push, and transfer patients safely.
  • Manual dexterity and mobility required.
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, and crouching.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interaction with healthcare professionals, patients, and families.

Schedule

  • 8 weeks contract
  • 4 days per week (Monday-Thursday)
  • 10-hour shifts, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Additional Information

  • Up to 24 hours of on-call availability may be required during the assignment.

This position offers an opportunity to lead and coordinate a comprehensive breast health imaging program while working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide excellent patient care.
