Job Description

The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and quality nursing care aligned with the Department of Nursing’s philosophy and goals. The RN will:

• Utilize Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring and Relationship Based Care to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Make clinical judgments regarding patient progress and collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Provide care tailored to the physiological, developmental, and psychosocial needs of patients.
• Apply scientific knowledge from social, biological, and physical sciences in nursing practice.
• Develop and modify nursing care plans based on ongoing patient assessment.
• Perform essential nursing skills, educate patients and families on health treatments and care.
• Demonstrate safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and medications.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and supervise care team members.
• Advocate for patients to ensure informed decision-making and quality care.
• Provide culturally competent, age-appropriate, and ethical care within legal standards.
• Coordinate patient care activities with nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, and ancillary staff.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years acute care nursing experience.
• Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program (Associate Degree or BSN accepted).
• Valid California RN License.
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications.

Additional Information

• Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills required.
• Physical demands include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills.
• Completion of annual organizational employment requirements.
• Effective communication for safe patient handoffs.
• Documentation of nursing care per hospital policies.
• Use of manual and automated information systems to enhance efficiency.
• Accountability for patient satisfaction and contributing to positive patient experiences.
• Responsible for assisting in complaint resolution and investigating concerns as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
