Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Rehabilitation is needed to provide patient-centered care using evidence-based nursing practices. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. The nurse will also support patient education, safety, quality improvement, and professional development activities.
Contract Length
- Approximately 13 weeks (89 days ≈ 13 weeks)
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Minimum 2 years of rehabilitation and mechanical ventilation experience
- Prior travel experience required for travel positions (1 year travel experience specified); not required for Per Diem positions
Required Qualifications
- Current New York State RN License
- BLS certification
- EPIC experience highly preferred
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Deliver nursing care based on professional practice models and nursing process
- Assess and evaluate patient needs using critical thinking
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
- Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention
- Manage patient assignments and delegate appropriately
Patient Experience
- Facilitate patient-centered care activities such as bedside shift reports, purposeful rounding, medication reviews, and discharge planning
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families
- Use evidence-based practices to improve patient perceptions of care
- Address patient and family concerns promptly and professionally
Quality and Safety
- Practice safe, efficient, patient-centered care
- Participate in quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives
- Identify and escalate safety hazards and barriers to care
- Document nursing practice accurately to support quality initiatives
Operations
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned
- Coordinate supply and staffing needs with management
- Document in compliance with regulatory and legal standards
- Facilitate patient throughput during shifts
Professional Development
- Support clinical colleagues and healthcare team members
- Advance clinical competence and nursing expertise
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical decision-making, and effective communication
- Engage in lifelong learning and participate in nursing committees and councils
Unit Information
- Average unit census: 21 patients
- Unit size: 25 beds
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
