Job Opportunity: Radiographer (Radiologic Technologist)

Location: Detroit, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Under the direction of a Radiologist, perform radiologic procedures to evaluate pathological conditions as ordered by a physician. Use independent judgment to determine appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for exams.
  • Review clinical data and obtain additional patient medical history as needed.
  • Prepare procedure rooms and replenish supplies regularly.
  • Analyze patient anatomy, set up equipment, and perform radiologic procedures manually to obtain diagnostic images.
  • May select and administer intravenous contrast media; monitor patients for reactions and provide immediate care if needed.
  • Perform imaging procedures following radiation protection principles (shielding, dose reduction, ALARA techniques).
  • Prepare and set up sterile equipment and supplies; follow infection control practices.
  • Ensure patient safety, privacy, confidentiality, comfort, and legal/ethical rights during care.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, including worksheets, logs, patient records, and radiology information system entries.
  • Teach and educate new hires and students when needed.
  • Manage image quality and delivery into PACS; resolve image exceptions.
  • Complete study indexing in Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Confirm clinical protocols with Radiologist before performing studies.
  • Demonstrate team member standards including communication, positive attitude, innovation, and respect for diversity.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • Work in hospital settings including fixed units, inpatient departments, OR, ER, or with mobile units.
  • Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients (with proper precautions).
  • Occasionally lift or move equipment and/or patients over 10 lbs.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must maintain required hours of continued education.

Certifications / Licensures Required

  • Registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible (must obtain registry within 6 months of hire if eligible).
  • Healthcare Provider certification required (Basic Cardiac Life Support - BCLS).
