Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position

Location

Job Summary

• Provide comprehensive nursing care including executing provider orders, medication administration, and assisting in patient examinations and treatments.
• Apply nursing and supervisory techniques in the care and treatment of inmates/residents.
• Perform technical and clinical procedures within scope of education and licensure.
• Attend sick calls with physicians, prepare examination rooms, operate pill call, dispense medication, and document accordingly.
• Assess new or ill/injured inmates/residents and refer to emergency care as needed.
• Perform emergency procedures and coordinate professional medical services by contract personnel.
• Monitor inpatient hospitalizations for early releases.
• Supervise licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records and ensure compliance with pharmacy laws.
• Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups.
• Assist with accreditation processes and prepare required reports and documentation.
• Observe and record inmate/resident behavior and inspect medical units for contraband.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Must be willing to work days or nights; shift determined by facility needs.
• 36/48 hour rotation (12-hour shifts).
• 36 hours per week guaranteed with open availability required for scheduling.
• Overtime billed after 8 hours/day; double time after 12 hours/day.

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in California.
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program (degree or diploma).
• Valid driver's license.
• U.S. citizenship required for ICE clearance.
• Ability to pass thorough background and credit investigation for clearance.
• ICE clearance process takes approximately 4-6 weeks; employment starts after clearance is obtained.

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of professional nursing experience preferred.

Additional Information

• Candidates must maintain good working relationships with facility staff and outside providers.
• Must use sound independent judgment while adhering to corporate, facility, and correctional policies.
• Must maintain security and confidentiality of all medical records.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
