Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with nursing standards and professional development according to the New York State Nurse Practice Act and nursing ethical standards. The role promotes a caring, patient-centered environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as primary or accountable nurse based on unit assignment.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely with knowledge of pharmacology.
• Participate in resource utilization including staffing, time management, and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support Nursing Shared Governance, unit councils, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
• Minimum of 1 year of oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience in management roles.
• Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing experience.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.
• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
• Relevant skills certifications such as PALS, TNCC as required by the assigned unit.
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate and chemotherapy administration experience preferred.

Work Schedule

• Day shift.
• 12 hours per day.
• 36 hours per week.
• Every other weekend.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks.
