Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients during a designated time frame. Responsibilities include utilizing the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources to deliver quality patient care.

Essential Functions

Perform duties specific to the unit’s scope of service.
Implement procedures and theories related to nursing practice.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
Complete initial patient assessments and develop appropriate care plans.
Implement and modify care plans based on ongoing evaluation.
Ensure patient and employee safety by reporting and addressing hazards.
Communicate effectively with team members to resolve issues.
Provide constructive feedback and support professional development of peers.
Identify personal learning needs and pursue solutions.
Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.

Department Specific Functions

Float to various inpatient units including Medical-Surgical, Oncology, Orthopedic, Advanced Care, and ICUs (if applicable).
Complete Unit Nurse Leader Training as needed.
Provide direct nursing care and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Conduct and document assessments, nursing diagnoses, and patient care plans.
Precept staff from various units as needed.
Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team members to ensure high-quality patient care.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
Minimum of 1 year of float experience, including float experience within the last year.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients and trauma care.
Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
