Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients during a designated time frame. Responsibilities include utilizing the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources to deliver quality patient care.
Essential Functions
- Perform duties specific to the unit’s scope of service.
- Implement procedures and theories related to nursing practice.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Complete initial patient assessments and develop appropriate care plans.
- Implement and modify care plans based on ongoing evaluation.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by reporting and addressing hazards.
- Communicate effectively with team members to resolve issues.
- Provide constructive feedback and support professional development of peers.
- Identify personal learning needs and pursue solutions.
- Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.
Department Specific Functions
- Float to various inpatient units including Medical-Surgical, Oncology, Orthopedic, Advanced Care, and ICUs (if applicable).
- Complete Unit Nurse Leader Training as needed.
- Provide direct nursing care and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Conduct and document assessments, nursing diagnoses, and patient care plans.
- Precept staff from various units as needed.
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team members to ensure high-quality patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Minimum of 1 year of float experience, including float experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients and trauma care.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
