Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Overview

  • Location: Neptune, New Jersey
  • Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Hours: 40 per week
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • On-call required
  • Weekend and holiday coverage is on-call only
  • No float requirement
  • Scrub color: Black

Role Summary

  • Performs nuclear medicine procedures, including organ imaging, function studies, and assisting the physician in the therapeutic use of radioisotopes.
  • Rotates work assignments as needed, including Cardiology and PET/CT.
  • Uses PACS, EPIC, Teletracking System, and Nuclear Medicine Information System as part of daily clerical duties.

Required Qualifications

  • 1 year of clinical experience in a busy hospital setting as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • Valid NJDEP license
  • ARRT or NMTCB registry
  • BLS by American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Selects and operates Nuclear Medicine equipment as directed
  • Evaluates radio images to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value
  • Provides radiation protection for self and patient
  • Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals
  • Prepares radioactive tracer compounds
  • Calibrates equipment and assays radionuclides
  • Receives and inspects radiopharmaceutical packages according to state and NRC guidelines
  • Maintains records of radioisotope receipt, use, storage, and disposal
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness, including contamination-free conditions
  • Follows NRC, State, and JCAHO guidelines/practices
  • Greets in/out patients using A.I.D.E.T. standards
  • Adheres to policies for Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality
  • Adapts care to patient population needs, including age, culture, language, hearing, and visual impairment
  • Communicates with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers at their level
