Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: Through September 27, 2026
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (except orientation week and holidays when the unit is closed)

Unit Overview

• Pediatric Cardiac ICU (24 beds) caring for neonates, infants, and adult congenital patients
• High acuity cardiac PICU with open heart surgeries, heart transplants, and open chests
• Provides coordination and management of patient care for cardiac and cardiovascular surgery patients
• Care for hemodynamically compromised patients and those with impending respiratory failure
• Float to NICU and PICU as needed
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday rotation: every other holiday
• No on-call or call-back duties

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin or Compact RN license
• AHA BLS and AHA PALS certifications required
• AHA ACLS certification preferred but not required
• ASN or BSN degree (BSN preferred)
• Minimum 12 to 18 months of independent nursing experience in a high acuity cardiac PICU
• Level I Trauma experience highly preferred
• Flu vaccine required or willingness to obtain

• Strong critical thinking skills
• Expertise in cardiac assessments and care in a high acuity pediatric cardiac ICU setting

Work Environment and Policies

• Electronic Medical Record system: Epic
• Scrub colors: Any professional scrubs allowed
• Jewelry/body piercing policy:

  • One small nose stud permitted
  • No visible piercings on tongue, eyebrow, lips, or gauges (ear piercings allowed)
  • Flesh-colored or clear piercing plugs permitted

Additional Notes

• Orientation week hours are not guaranteed
• Floating to NICU and PICU units as needed
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
