Cardiovascular Surgical Tech

Overview

• Travel assignment in Wausau, Wisconsin.
• Start date: ASAP.
• Contract length: 9 weeks.
• Guaranteed hours: 40 per week.
• Shift: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
• Primary location: Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
• Unit has 3 cardiothoracic surgeons and handles approximately 50–60 cases per month.

Required Qualifications

• CVOR Technologist experience with 2 years of experience.
• CVOR Technologist experience within the last year.
• One completed travel assignment.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• CST or NBSTSA or NCCT.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with thoracic robot.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cardiac/Thoracic experience.
• Thoracic robot experience.

Schedule and Call

• Every 3rd weekend.
• Holiday rotation.
• 1 night of call per week.
• 1 weekend per month of call.
• 1 backup call per week.
• 30-minute response time for call.
• May occasionally require additional mandated call.

Float Scope

• May be required to float to all Central Aspirus locations if needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up the operative suite for patients.
• Review case carts to ensure supplies are available.
• Scrub surgical cases across a variety of specialties.
• Turn over rooms for multiple procedures throughout the day.
• May need to help with downtime tasks such as pulling case carts and cleaning.

Additional Notes

• Travelers can be placed on call for low census hours.
• Call-back minimum is 2 hours.
• During flu season, if not vaccinated for flu and COVID, masking is required at all times.
