Location: Jackson, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Flexible start times between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM
Hours: 40 hours per week (4 - 10-hour shifts or 5 - 8-hour shifts, or a combination)

Job Summary

Provide comprehensive nutritional care including assessment, diagnosis, care plan implementation, counseling, education, and evaluation of outcomes for patients, families, and healthcare team members. Act as a nutritional consultant and resource, coordinate education programs, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess nutritional needs using patient history, medical records, anthropometric measurements, biochemical data, and physical findings.
• Identify and diagnose nutrition-related problems that can be improved through intervention.
• Implement individualized nutrition interventions including food/nutrient delivery (meals, supplements, enteral/parenteral nutrition), education, and counseling.
• Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes related to nutrition therapy and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Monitor food tolerances and ensure adequate nutritional intake.
• Educate patients and families on nutrition and special diets during and after hospitalization.
• Maintain accurate documentation of nutrition services in medical records.
• Develop and conduct in-service classes and community education on nutrition topics.
• Supervise and mentor dietetic interns/students.
• Collaborate with culinary services to address patient and staff nutritional needs.
• Participate in special projects and committees related to nutritional care.
• Maintain professional expertise through ongoing education and organizational activities.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license in Michigan.
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
• Experience working in Long Term Acute Care (LTACH) and Rehabilitation settings.
• Experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read, write, and speak English; understand medical terminology.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• High interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
• Strong customer service orientation including communication, ownership, motivation, teamwork, respect, and sensitivity.
• Self-directed, flexible, committed to teamwork, open to learning, and respectful of diversity.

Working Conditions

• Normal office environment with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or extreme temperatures.
