Overview

• Location: Hinesville, Georgia
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts
• Hours per week: 36
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Rotated with permanent staff
• Call/standby: No
• Floating: No floating
• Orientation: 3 shifts

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• 2 years of ER experience
• Must be proficient with IVs and drips
• Must be able to multitask and keep up with a fast pace and high acuity
• Must be able to troubleshoot vents, BiPAP, and CPAP
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips

Preferred Qualifications

• TNCC
• ICU hold experience
• Experience from smaller community hospitals rather than CAH
• Travel experience preferred, but not required

Unit Details

• ER has 18 beds, including 3 trauma bays
• Separate triage area; travelers can sometimes work triage depending on experience
• No separate holding area; ER holds are intermixed in the ER
• ER nurses take holds
• No separate psych/seclusion area; 2 safety rooms can be used for psych patients
• Average volume is 90 patients per day, up to 140 during peak season
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5, depending on acuity
• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, back pain, lacerations, influenza, COVID, SOB, CP, stroke/CVA with TPA, psych, MVAs, trauma, DKA, sickle cell, HTN, and STEMI transfers
• Common drips include all common ER/critical care drips
• MDs and mid-levels are staffed
• Charge nurse is on every shift and takes a patient assignment
• PCTs provide general tech duties, vital signs, lab draws, and splinting
• Radiology transports are available
• RNs and techs draw labs
• Telemetry is in every room except safety rooms
• RT is available 24/7
• Pharmacy is in house until 5p
• Ultrasound and vein finder are available for ER and MedSurg
• Scrub color: Caribbean Blue; scrub jacket must match or be white
