Overview

• Travel contract for a Postpartum nurse in Los Angeles, California.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Shift: 12-hour days.
• Hours per week: 36.

Unit Details

• Postpartum unit with 28 beds.
• Couplet care ratio: 1:4.
• Birth volume: 3,300 births per year.
• Charge nurse takes a patient assignment if needed.
• Nurse aides/OB tech support is available depending on census, usually 1–2.
• Floor orientation: 3 shifts on unit.

Required Qualifications

• 4 full years of postpartum experience.
• Active BLS.
• NRP.
• California RN license.

Preferred

• Travel experience is preferred.

Schedule

• Every other weekend.
• No call required.
• One major and one minor holiday.
• First to float.

Float Scope

• May float to NICU to care for feeders and growers.
• May float to Pediatrics, a 12-bed low-acuity unit.

Clinical Setting

• Common patient types include pregnancies 20 weeks and above, high-risk blood pressure cases, multiples, diabetes, no prenatal care, and substance abuse.
• No gynecologic surgeries on postpartum.
• OB attending is in house 24 hours.
• RT is available 24/7.
• Pharmacy is available 24/7.
• No IV team.
• No vents.
