Respiratory Therapist Travel Assignment - Boise, Idaho
Job Details
- Location: Boise, Idaho
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Department: Respiratory Therapy
- Unit: Respiratory Therapy Boise Hospital Floor 1
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Required to work if scheduled during holidays
- Call Requirement: None
- Floating: May float to Meridian Medical Center and Nampa Medical Center
Patient Population & Workload
- Patient Types: Adults (all floors), Pediatrics, NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
- Coverage:
- Pediatric RTs also cover adults
- Adult RTs do not cover pediatrics
- Treatments: 36-42 treatments per 12-hour shift or 12-14 treatments every 4 hours
Certifications & Experience
- Required Certifications:
- Adults: BLS, ACLS
- Pediatrics: BLS, PALS
- NICU: BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Preferred Certification: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
- Acceptable Certification: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with 3-5 years experience
- Experience:
- RRT: Minimum 2-3 years experience
- CRT: Minimum 3-5 years experience
- First-time travelers are acceptable
- Special Skills:
- For NICU coverage, must know how to operate NAVA (Naturally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist) on Servo ventilators
Job Responsibilities
- Manage all respiratory therapy equipment, treatments, patient transport, and arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Assist with intubations (independent intubation not required)
- No EKG responsibilities
Staffing & Supervision
- Lead therapist present on each shift covering ED, daily staffing, and acting as a resource
- Manager and supervisor available during daytime hours
- Typically 15-20 RTs on day shift, 10-12 on night shift
- Traveler will not be the only RT in-house
Equipment Used
- Ventilators: Draeger (adults), Servo U (pediatrics)
- V60 BiPAPs
- Vapotherm high flow
- Optiflow (NICU and PICU)
- Philips Cough Assist
- ResMed home CPAP
- HillRom Vest machines for percussion
- Hill-Rom Metaneb
Orientation
- Typically 2-3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation:
- 1 shift for adult floor care
- 1 shift for pediatrics (if applicable)
- 1 shift for NICU (if applicable)
- Additional shift if covering adult ICU
Dress Code
- Any color scrubs allowed as long as clean and professional
Note: Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered.
